Mentoring

Mentoring with Dr. Jeri

Put simply, mentoring is a process that aims to improve performance and focuses on the ‘here and now’ rather than on the distant past or future. Let’s remove the blocks getting in the way of your success. Let’s balance your brain so that you are hemispherically balanced, and you can live the life that you desire.

While there are many different models of coaching, I do not believe in the ‘mentor as expert’ but, instead, the mentor as a facilitator of learning. There is a huge difference between teaching someone and helping them to learn. In mentoring, fundamentally, it is my job to help you improve your own performance: in other words, helping you to learn.

As a mentor, I believe that you always have the answers to your own problems but understand that you may need help to find the answer, release sabotage, create a business/life plan, balance the Body/Mind/Spirit so that your whole system is prepared for success.

This year, I had a fantastic time getting to know my mentor, Dr. Jeri LaVigne.  She gave me timely guidance in so many areas and was a constant source of support and guidance about career, the job search, and even personal issues.  It was encouraging to know I had someone in my corner who had gotten through some tough times in her own life and was exceedingly successful in her own right... and who was always willing to listen when I had a silly question or needed advice!

As a Licensed Massage Therapist and health and fitness coach, Dr. Jeri has mentored me in expanding my business in many ways by showing me how to connect brain development, process, and function to my work and my clients.  We know the brain is there, we know it's controlling and regulating practically every system but how do we involve this into our practices and areas of focus? Dr. Jeri has now  shared and equipped me with tools and principles to pass alone to my clients that not only me but my clients will ultimately be greater and more whole. I can't thank you enough Dr. Jeri!  You're so personal, patient and genially heartfelt for every single person you work with, thank you times a billion!

Dr. Jeri helped me to be gentler with myself - not so demanding. She encouraged and brainstormed with me on methods on how to say no in a positive and respectful way (to myself and others).

She celebrated my achievements – no matter how small.

I was recently divorced, struggling to be a good primary parent, and trying to find my way in the business world.  I hadn’t had a “real job” in over fourteen years.  I was furious, scared, and so sure that I couldn’t make a good decision about anything.  Dr. Jeri started working with me and helped me move out of a place of chaos and create some structure and positivity in my life.  She has a kind, but straight forward, no nonsense approach that really helped me make changes quickly.  I now have strategies that help me deal with the unexpected.  I have learned how to better mange my mind and my time.  I am back in school and making the life I choose for myself and my children.
